Digital Photography Program

In collaboration with a generous grandparent the launch of the Digital Photography Program began, with grant funding awarded to Chartwell School.  I worked with Kris Hill and Gerry Davis to develop the Digital Photography Program.  The program provides students with cameras for use during class and a special field trip/classroom set is available for checkout by teachers for use on projects in class and experiential trips.  The program continues to foster creative photographic inspiration through the annual photo contest, which is judged by top photographers in the field.

Hartnell College
Instructional Technology @ Work

Picture
Since opening in June of 2006, this premier showcase of innovative learning technologies, utilizes advanced digital infrastructure such as a video distribution network, one card system, Polyvision interactive presentation products, collaborative tools and Polycom video conferencing systems etc.
We worked collectively in the planning of the new learning resource center. It was exciting to plan the new technologies to be utilized in the different areas including the distance education room, information literacy, community room, faculty resource center, video editing suites and collaborative student work areas.

Video Conferencing Technology

Video Conference Technology Enables Remote Sites
The NRN 22 Perioperative Nursing course successfully used the video conferencing equipment in the Technology Learning Center. The course was taught by Frances Bullman and her class is being attended by three distant sites as well as students at Hartnell. Frances received training on the AMX touch screen interface and conducts the conferences using the skills and techniques learned through our Faculty Resource Center. In addition, she has developed a course website that provides her students an opportunity to review course Powerpoint slideshows and lectures.

Smart Desks

The design, construction and installation of the smart desks were completed in 2002. The smart desks are six foot long custom designed teaching stations with state of the art technology, they were designed by working with instructors to get their input, needs and ideas. I enjoyed working with the instructors and carpenters in coordinating the construction and installation. Four desks which allow instructors the opportunity to integrate the use of the Internet, software applications, DVD/VHS and document camera technology in to their lessons. Along that same line I am asked to develop a distance education desk that will be similar but different in that it will be capable of sending and receiving live video using ISDN and IP.  This system includes a custom designed AMX touch screen interface.

Media Wall Project

Picture
The Media Wall greets visitors as they enter the lobby of the building.
Comprised of four 50 inch plasma screens that are controlled via server based software that drives digital media content to the individual or group of screens.  The software solution that we chose for this project was Omnivex, one of the determining factors for using this software interface and ease of interoperability.
