Technology has become a vital part of our everyday life but not for seniors and they often feel left behind. In an effort to bridge the digital divide for seniors, the TechHeroes program fosters increase mental health, and aptitude through supported and effective use of technology.

Onsite training at Sunrise Senior Living in Palo Alto, students from three area high schools attended.  The orientation consisted of overview of the program, tour of the facility, training and hands on use of the technology tools and program procedures.

Students were excited to use technology with the residents and many completed their paperwork and volunteered for other activities.

TechHeroes Connects with Woodside High School's Business Technology Academy

Charles Velschow, Program Coordinator for Business Technology Academy. Collaborating with educational partners like Woodside High School is essential for the success of TechHeroes.
Student who participate in the Technology Academy at Woodside were introduced to the TechHeroes program.  Jenny Donegan program creator and manager shared with students the program highlights and service learning aspect. Five classes attended the presentation and discussion.

TechHeroes are the real winners because they get to learn from their students. Dean visited Iran with his student and learning about the world from the students point of view.

Residence George and Betty are supporters of the TechHeroes program. George love to listen to Mozart and watch Tennis. Betty loves to connect with family and learn math using the computer.

Residence at Sunrise Palo Alto participated in two focus group meetings prior to the launch, in which they were introduced to program concepts and technology tools. We gained valuable insight on how to be effective with our student base.
